(pura) snow fall

Pura Vida (who just recently changed their name to Dahlonega Day Spa) looks pretty amazing covered in a thick blanket of snow. These were shot over Valentine’s Day weekend, when Matt and I went up there for a quick get-away to solidify some wedding plans. The snow and ice shut down some of the wineries there — a lot of the staff got stuck and couldn’t make it to work — but it made for a beautiful, quiet weekend for us. And Miss Ellie got to frolic about at top speeds, one of her most favorite things to do.
oh letterpress, how i’ve missed you

(This is a sneak peak of our wedding invitation plates that the brilliant husband and wife team at Mirabel Press sent over to me a few days ago.)
I’ve had the opportunity to do small letterpress jobs eons ago when I was a fledging print designer straight out of school. My appreciation and love for it has only grown over the years… but with my career moving towards the online space, I unfortunately am not around it nor the process these days.
That said, it has been such a treat for me and Matt to get the opportunity to do this — not only to custom design our own invitations, but to work with people who have truly dedicated their lives to preserving the craft of letterpress (and who simply are really good people). Kristen and Cody hand-feed every piece of paper into a lovingly restored antique press! Which means each piece is uniquely crafted… the process is a work of art all the way around, and we can’t wait to see the final product.
I told Kristen when she sent me this picture that it made me feel like a proud mom. I know, I may just love letterpress too much.
