I had the pleasure of second-shooting Valerie & Kevin’s wedding for my friend, the talented Melissa Schollaert, on the lovely island of St. Simons last summer. I loved all the little details they incorporated to make it their own, including that one very big detail — her uncle’s antique Model-T Ford! Their string-lit reception happened to be on 10 acres of family-owned property, beautifully draped in Spanish moss.

I had the wonderful opportunity to shoot this incredible wedding with my dear friend Jess in Palm Beach, just before I headed out to Italy. Alex & Marcy had an exquisite affair at the Royal Poinciana Chapel… and I have never before seen so many people in one room that could dance so effortlessly! Click here to see a few more shots from the day.

Keith and Suzanne were married near Suzanne’s hometown in Grand Coteau, Louisiana (the most charming and tiniest of towns) in the beautiful historic church where Suzanne’s family had been attending since before she was born. In a nod to Keith’s college soccer game tradition, a bagpiper played for arriving guests; in grand Louisiana fashion, all the groomsmen arrived on a trolley!  Suzanne’s beautiful lavaliere had been worn by all the women in her family before her on their wedding day.

(I was so thrilled to have the incredibly talented and sweet Kate Murphy, who I met at the FIND workshop, second shoot for me on this day… her shot of the trolley and program are so gorgeous and help tell their beautiful story.)

ellie and the beach

My birthday wish this year was to take Ellie to see the beach for the first time. It was honestly the most amazing experience for all of us…to get to see her indescribably free – no leash, wide open spaces to run as fast as she could, gallons of ocean to swim in. She was wide-eyed, freaked out, full of joy and pure abandon. It truly brought me to tears to see Ellie the happiest I’ve ever seen her in all her 5 years. And the icing on the cake was that we took her to St. Simons and stayed in the same place my family has been vacationing since I was a little kid. Best. Birthday. Ever.

Dress: Tara Keely from Wedding Angels, Handmade Veil: Chaviano Couture, Shoes: Jimmy Choo, Bridesmaids dresses by Bari Jay from Bridals by Lori, Design & Coordination: Dawn Gahan, Florist: Tulip, Caterer: Affairs to Remember, Wedding & Groom’s cake, cookies for cookie bar: Rhodes Bakery, Band: City Heat, Makeup: Miche Consulting, Hair: Elle Salon, Videographer: Rodonis Films

Mandy and Todd were married at the beautiful Peachtree Christian Church on perhaps one of the hottest days we had seen thus far this summer! They met thousands of feet up in the air simply by striking up a conversation on their serendipitous way home to Atlanta and the groom’s cake was such a sweet nod to their first encounter. I simply adored the modern color palette of butter yellow and bright coral my dear friend Dawn incorporated into all of their lovely details (plus, getting to work with her on the other side of a wedding was a blast!). Mandy and a handful of her dear bridesmaids were UGA cheerleaders, so of course, Hairy Dawg himself showed up to dance the night away with all of the guests at Greystone… it was seriously one of the most fun and entertaining receptions I’ve had the honor to photograph…
