My birthday wish this year was to take Ellie to see the beach for the first time. It was honestly the most amazing experience for all of us…to get to see her indescribably free – no leash, wide open spaces to run as fast as she could, gallons of ocean to swim in. She was wide-eyed, freaked out, full of joy and pure abandon. It truly brought me to tears to see Ellie the happiest I’ve ever seen her in all her 5 years. And the icing on the cake was that we took her to St. Simons and stayed in the same place my family has been vacationing since I was a little kid. Best. Birthday. Ever.

I’ve been trying not to double-book my weekends so that we can have at least one day to meet up with Ellie’s “friends” and do a little creek swimming. With the weather warming up, we may have to find another watering hole or two for her… although… Serenbe is truly her favorite.

A (pura) snow fall.

Pura Vida (who just recently changed their name to Dahlonega Day Spa) looks pretty amazing covered in a thick blanket of snow. These were shot over Valentine’s Day weekend, when Matt and I went up there for a quick get-away to solidify some wedding plans. The snow and ice shut down some of the wineries there — a lot of the staff got stuck and couldn’t make it to work — but it made for a beautiful, quiet weekend for us. And Miss Ellie got to frolic about at top speeds, one of her most favorite things to do.
